Story of a Loft Conversion

1. Loft Before Starting; An Empty Loft Ready to Start.
2. Chimney Removal; We Sometimes Have To Remove Chimneys and also any Water Tanks and Obstructions.
3. Loft Steel; Often Steel Beams are Needed to Support the Structure.
4. Loft Wire; Sometimes We Have to Up Rate the Fire Tesistance of the Ceilings Below, using Wire Mesh or Plaster Boarding and Insulating.
5. Loft Herringbone; Floor Joists Are Then Installed with the Internal Structure Built Onto These.
6. Ashlar; The Side or “Ashlar” Walls Support the Roof Weight so as the Purlins can be Removed.
7. Ceiling & Ceiling 2; Ceiling Joists are then Installed, Often Used as Structural Bracing.
8. Ceiling & Ceiling 2; Ceiling Joists are then Installed, Often Used as Structural Bracing.
9. Supports Before Removal; The Stud Walls can then go up, all Work Has to Follow the Set Plan so as the Structure is Supported Safely Before Removing Any Existing Timbers.
10. Stairs 1 the Stairs can Now be Installed.
11. Dormer 1; A Typical Dormer Under Construction.
12. Finished Dormer; The Dormer Finished, We Always Try and Ensure to Blend in with the Property.
13. Loft Insulation; The Insulation is Very Important to a Loft Conversion, Ensuring it’s Warm in the Winter and Cool in the Summer, also Sound Insulation Should not be Overlooked.
14. Finished 3; The Rooms are Finally Plaster Boarded and Plastered, Door Liners and Doors Fitted, Windows, Skirting and Architraves Fitted.
15. Finished 2; The Room is then Ready for Decoration.
16. General Note During This Process the Plumbing and Electrical Installations have to be Integrated as Well as Any Specific Requirements by the Planning Officer or Client.
